My name is Alexander Markus Jurado, Founder of ARQ-IAM.
Born in the Netherlands, with Hispanic-Dutch roots, I grew up influenced by both cultures, which allowed me to develop a unique perspective. My creative journey began when I played with Lego, K’nex, or Mecano as a game, observing shapes, structures, and how spaces can influence people. The entrepreneurial side of me was inspired by my father. This interest evolved into a professional career as an architect, which led me to Spain and the Netherlands multiple times, always seeking to integrate the best of both cultures and adapt it to the local context.
My vision goes beyond the mere construction of buildings. It is about creating spaces that connect emotionally with people. Authenticity and freedom are fundamental pillars for me, and I reflect this in my work because I believe architecture should not only be functional and aesthetic but also genuine and transcendent. I aim to create spaces that promote well-being and human connection.
Architecture has the power to heal, offering environments that support emotional balance and creativity, allowing people to find peace, inspiration, and authenticity in their daily lives. I seek to transform the environment of each individual so that, through design, they can feel more complete and connected to themselves and the world around them.
Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to explore different facets of architecture, from conceptual design to execution, and today, with ARQ-IAM, I aim to provide accessible solutions that elevate people’s quality of life. My goal is not only to create architecture but to leave a positive mark on society.
Although I currently work independently, I have more than enough colleagues and contacts to expand my circle. The dream is to continue growing, learning from the masters life brings me, and collaborating with professionals who share this vision and want to be part of or collaborate with ARQ-IAM.
My greatest inspiration comes from the existential pain I have experienced throughout my life. That feeling of emptiness and confusion has led me to constantly question the purpose of what we do and how we can find meaning through what we create. Pain, when faced with courage, can transform into a driving force of creativity. In each personal challenge, I see an opportunity to reinvent something—design—and make it more authentic and useful for people.
ARQ-IAM arises from my deep desire to change the world and address the emotional gaps I experienced in my childhood. It was during those moments that I discovered the power of creativity as a refuge and a means of transformation. What I lacked emotionally, I found in creating—in the ability to generate things that could at least give me a sense of belonging, a purpose, a goal.
Thus, ARQ-IAM is my personal and professional response, a manifestation of what architecture can do not only for people but for the environment they inhabit. My vision goes beyond building structures; it’s about creating spaces that connect emotionally with humans, offering what I lacked: comfort, connection, and above all, the freedom to be oneself.
